I'm not seeing the "auto-tune" thing personally. I think it's more McCulloch and the choirs backing on some bits that make it sound a little unusual. Bloody ace though

The positives appear to be out waying the negative views so far! Obviously it's not gonna be everyone's cup of tea but I'm gagging to hear it now. Not too long to have to wait now!

I've heard it a bit more. But I still think it's good. My recording took off even more of the bass than the radio did!
But it was bothering me last night "Where have I heard this before? Where?..." And as I haven't seen it in this thread... LOOK AWAY NOW TRACEY! The chorus remind me of a slowed down Empty Souls chorus "der-id-der-id-der dur der" and the verse remind me of Everything Fades from IKTZ. So I can believe Nicky wrote the music. I don't hate it. I like it more. But it's a case of "Well done Manics." as opposed to "Fucking nailed it Manics!" So I've a feeling the rest of the record might provoke this reaction... |

I think this going to be a recurring theme for the whole album, sadly. Way too many passes with the musical Mr. Sheen. Let's have some rawness to the songs...

Not heard it yet, I guess it was a live acoustic version? Only about 3 weeks now just over until the album is out so I can wait to hear the tracks.

Just listened to the radio clip now. I thought "What's up with James' voice?" at first but then realised this was that song with Ian McCulloch on - His voice certainly has got deeper over the years. As for the song.......it's pretty decent, I like the ending with the choir soaring. I think a video for this song could be cool. I'm nearly always kind of underwhelmed by new Manics songs so for now, I'll give this 6.5 / 10 but after more listens it'll go up to probably an 8 or something. So is song (according to people who have heard the album promo) one of the best songs on the album? It's not really amazingly catchy or anything but it's a nice song, has a feel-good vibe to it for sure. Good. If it was a single I don't think it'd get the attention of many non fansto go out and buy it but we'll have to see what happens.

Listened to it a few times now and it's kind of growing on me. I imagine it as a good album track, but definitely not a single - it just doesn't have that radio hook to hang your hat on. Which probably means it will be a single rushed out for Christmas because it's got a choir on it!

I think it's McCulloch that ends up sounding like auto-tune central and not James. The whole song does sound very strange because he is singing an octave lower than James most of the song. Nothing wrong with JDB's vocals from what I can see, just sounds normal to me.

Oh yeah and McCulloch just sounds too much like an in-tune Nicky most of the time, Wire should have just sung those bits himself.
Still like the song though.
