25/04/08 - Eska Music Awards, Poland

The Manics received the ‘Best Foreign Rock Band’ Award and performed a short set at the Eska Music Awards in Lodz, Poland on the 25th April. The set consisted of:

1. If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next
2. Your Love Alone Is Not Enough
3. Indian Summer

Summer festivals list released.

The band are lined up to play at several European festivals this summer and will be taking part in the Rock-Am-Ring festival (Germany), Allegro Muzyka (Poland), Open Air (Switzerland), Best Fest (Romania) and will be headlining the R1/NME stage at Reading and Leeds.

Manics to play Reading & Leeds Festivals 2008

The Manics have been confirmed to headline the R1/NME tent at this year’s Reading & Leeds Festivals. They will appear at Reading on the Saturday (23th August) and Leeds on the Sunday (24th August) and are currently billed to appear above Bullet For My Valentine, Justice and Foals.

For more information on the festivals and lineups, visit the official sites for Leeds and Reading. Tickets are available from the usual outlets, such as Seetickets and Ticketmaster.

The Manics are also rumoured to be playing several European festivals, but nothing has yet been confirmed.

Tonight the Manics headlined the NME Shockwave Awards ‘Big Gig’ at the 02 Arena, topping a bill of Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, The Klaxons and The Cribs. The setlist was :

Manics cover Umbrella

In addition to headlining the NME Big Gig next thursday, the Manics have recorded a cover of Rihanna’s Umbrella. It will be available on a free covers CD with the NME next week and will also be available on itunes. A new acoustic version of Donkeys and an untitled instrumental are also available to listen to now on the Official Site.

Manics to receive NME ‘Godlike Genius’ award

The Manics are to receive the ‘Godlike Genius’ award at the 2008 NME Shockwave awards. The band will also headline a ‘Big Gig’ on the same night (Thursday 28th February) at the O2 Arena, London, with the bill also featuring Bloc Party, The Klaxons, The Cribs and The Kaiser Chiefs.
