I love Never Wanted Sunshine. I actually like it more than any Great Western track.

Hope it never comes to that! But yeah, I Never Wanted Sunshine is a great song!

Am I the only one who thinks 'I Never Wanted Sunshine' sounds like it was knocked up in 30 seconds when he realised he needed an extra track? 'I never wanted sunshine/I just wanted you to be mine' indeed - and this from a man who one year later stated he still had no desire to sing love songs.

'Lost Again' and 'Don't Look Back' are the best of the b-sides for me. 'Silver Birch' is ok but our record player's a bit rubbish so i'd need to hear it in better quality before I can feel I can pass judgement.

naah, this is mainly Nicky's and Richey's idea, James, if only could, he would sing love songs all the time his voice is AMAZING for such words

That lyric is quite poor but the song as a whole is great in my opinion.

The best pop lyrics are simple and to the point. James being an ELO fan knows this! He has said he finds the thought of doing a love song embarrasing so I'd say 'I Never Wanted Sunshine; and also 'Which Way To Kyffin' in a very round about way are as near to lovesongs as you'll probably get from Mr Bradfield!
