No one can say they expected anything more. Without the O2 gig this would have been an utterly fruitless endeavour.

No NT boxset or CD single of TITD in my HMV. Knew they wouldn't have them but still gutted!

In the run up the Christmas, NT will probably do ok. Another couple of dates in the UK and maybe one or two elsewhere might have been a good idea.

yes, and their selection of their "best" would easily match that of the fans

my National Treasures deluxe arrived today, along with the 2CD version of Achtung Baby. interesting airbrushing of history on both.

on Achtung Baby, the infamous cover pic of Adam Clayton naked now has a massive cross over his gentlemen's bits.

on National Treasures, the book contains many Richey-era pictures with Richey not in them. yes i know that this would be because he took a number of them. i am by no means a card carrying member of CoR, but at just a glance it struck me as obvious that these pics had been selected to highlight the current 3 only.

they really need to appear, as a star in a reasonably priced car on Top Gear if they want to sell it large. i use this show as the Manics have appeared more than once on those TG compilation discs so they are clearly not adverse to profiting via Clarkson & Co.

That would be brilliant!

"What was your first car?"

A little bit of me would die if I ever saw the Manics with Clarkson on Top Gear.

That's lame! I'm kind of hoping someone will get me this for Christmas.

As for Top Gear, I doubt the manics are big/famous enough anymore to make it onto the Top Gear Christmas specials. If there is any this year that is.

as funny as i find the (obviously well staged) challenges they do, i kind of have to agree with this. if they are looking to flog lots of records to the last set of people who buy them in large numbers, however, it is the type who nod their head in agreement with the shit "Jezza" spouts in-between the funny bits.

case in point - the amount of "middle aged men" i know who last year all of a sudden bought the best of Jamirrooqqaaaaaiiiiii (don't know how to spell it, the twat in the hat, you know who i mean) on the basis that he had been blessed with approval by Cockson was very scary.

might be just because i got the el cheapo 2 CD version - maybe those who splash more cash get to see the full Clayton, as it were. or just pick up the original issue CD, still easy enough to find.

within the last couple of years Sean did an interview with a drum magazine, i think. he's rather articulate and interesting to listen to (or read the text); it's just that the main music press prefer the Wire soundbites.

When I met them after a gig on the JFPL tour Sean was the coolest of the three. It was pretty obvious that Jimbo gets the most attention in those situations and Wire was drugged out of his mind with his back problem, but we spotted Sean sitting waiting on the minibus to take them to the hotel and he came out and chatted for ages and signed by 10th Anniversary Holy Bible. He is a legend.
