I strongly disagree with anyone who's moaning on the setlists. I am pretty sure that the people who are doing more than 10-15 dates a tour can be a bit bored but the others? why? I completely don't understand. if you want the other songs being played then go to the gig by someone else! how can the Manics give up playing classic hits? what the hell do you want?! b-sides?? playing 23 songs a gig is a nice number and we're getting really good stuff.
and to lovesean4ever, yes, I would like to hear other songs from the new album. but I can't moan, really, I heard my top 4 songs during the gig, now I'm just happy. yay.

Yeah, you think that but we have a different opinion and not from doing that many gigs on a tour either!

I'm bringing about 8 casual fans with me, who all own a couple of albums, and saw about 5-6 gigs. Last year in Belgium, Lokerse Feesten, they were allready complaining about the fact that "they always seem to play the same songs". A collegue of mine told me: "they did play the same set as last years festival, no?" (which was Pukkelpop). In Pukkelpop they promoted SATT, in Lokeren it should have been JFPL, but my friends didn't seem to notice the difference ...
I'm scared to bring my friends with me again. This is what they got in Lokeren. Motorcycle Emptiness Your Love Alone Is Not Enough No Surface All Feeling Peeled Apples Tsunami Autumnsong Ocean Spray Jackie Collins Existential Question Time Faster You Stole The Sun From My Heart Tequila into The Everlasting (Acoustic) Everything Must Go A Design For Life You Love Us Little Baby Nothing Stop In The Name Of Love into Motown Junk If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next Almost every song (only not "The Everlasting" got an airing this tour. In fact the songs in bold will be almost 100% heard by them AGAIN. OK with the biggest hits, but rotation of the other material is a key-word.

Yes good point. They just need the right balance I suppose, I mean the crucial hits will always be ME, ADFL, YLAINE, IYTTYCWBN, YLU, MJ, Faster, JCEQT, INWJTEOL etc

The problem with including rarities is that one man's pleasure is another man's poison. They have to stick with what they know most people are gonna be happy with - unless of course they decide to do a tour of rarities and advertise it as thus.

The tour is practically sold out so the band arent going to think they're doing anything wrong. They get consistantly good reviews and despite samey setlists people still want to go see them. I doubt they'll change much

If they're soundchecking LTD then I hope it's not in the set come next Tuesday. What a hideous song.........
That's the problem when you're a band that's produced 10 albums worth of material and 40-odd singles. You can't please everyone - BUT - the fact is that they don't have to play the same old shit over and over.

I agree, and I wish they'd mix the set up a bit more too, but I think people will always complain that there aren't enough rarities even if they drop one or two in.

The Manics are aware anyway that the fans want more rarities. They said in the UK people just want to hear the Holy Bible and in Japan they want to hear GT.
