Patrick Jones stuff

I was just looking on his site, as you do on a Sunday afternoon, and noticed under the 'work in development' section that the film adaptation of Everything Must Go is still in development. I wonder if this will ever see the light of day? I assumed it had been canned. He's also working on a drama for TV called 'Nutters', which is: "largely based on the work I have done with mental health survivors." Sounds like it's just the sort of thing that would benefit from another JDB soundtrack...

And he's got a brand new play being put on in Cardiff on Wednesday week - "The Absents".

I shall be there and can't wait!

When i last spoke to Patrick he said the EMG film had all gone very quiet and wasn't sure if anything was coming of it. But as Lucyloo says,he has a new play which is being performed in Cardiff on 28th Sept...And i'm going too

Most writers for tv and film put forward loads of ideas before they get something actually comissioned and then they're lucky if it doesn't get totally altered and then it might not get shown, so Patrick's experience isn't particularly unusual. TV companies have got their pick of new writers and they have to please advitisers/tv licence payers etc all sorts. Hopefully Patrick will get his latest idea picked up though, it sounds interesting.

Saw The Absents last night, and believe I chatted (by extension!) with some of the lovely people above in the bar after.

I shall leave it to more articulate people than myself to talk about the play itself in any detail, although I will say it was as brutal, honest and poetic as I was expecting although thought there were one or two clumsy moments. Very good though overall.

Also went to see Absents last night.

Really, really enjoyed it - very powerful and moving, and Patrick certainly got his message across!! Was also brilliantly acted as well imo.

Patrick was sooooooo lovely and signed my book for me!

Hello to everyone who was there!!
