Enola/Alone
Further Away
No surface all feeling
Nobody loved you
I live to fall asleep
Cardiff afterlife
Your love alone
Autumnsong
Askew Road
You're tender and you're tired
You stole the sun....

It's interesting that "You stole the sun straight from my heart from my heart from heart" is in the lyrics to "Your Love Alone is Not Enough" (which Nicky himself has said has to do in part with Richey). Other people have said it's about Nicky traveling and being homesick though, I'd have to dig around for sources.

One source of that notion is Everything, don't know about other specific ones...

I thought the song was about the Gibbon twins ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_and_Jennifer_Gibbons ) myself, but could be wrong.

Ah, I see - there's something on the Wikipedia also (no sources cited though):
Quote:
The lyric concerns Nicky Wire's dislike of touring. He has said that as much as he enjoys being on stage, he hates the routine of travelling, soundchecks, hotels and the homesickness it causes.
This thread is related to this discussion too, concerning the meaning of lyrics in "No Surface All Feeling" and "Nobody Loved You":

Yes I know they're the literal subject but I've read in a few places that they're an analogue for Richey and Nicky (rather than Icky as I originally typed). Not sure if this is generally accepted though..

I always thought that...it's very subtle.

No photographs can show how it used to be"

...AND ALL THE OTHER LINES IN THAT SONS...

Well, I really hope Richey wasn't everything he loved, with him being, you know, married
No, really. It's too easy to see Richey references EVERYWHERE without even wanting to, so I think it's better not to look for them.

Would've thought Firefight would be more to do with James' mum than Richey. But then it could just be referring to all the people in their lives who are no longer there any more like Phillip Hall etc.

Yeah, I don't think that "Firefight" is about *just* Richey specifically. I think most of raven's choices up there are on-target, definitely "Sepia" too! I've never thought of "Tsunami" as being Richey-related, though some people on SongMeanings seem to think so.

I've also wondered about the use of "void" in the lyrics a few times on songs on TIMTTMY ("The Everlasting": "To end the void with all its force", "My Little Empire": "All of my sins are attempts to fill the voids", "You're Tender and You're Tired": "Rebuild the void with flowers") and whether it is a reference to the gap that Richey's disappearance left, it seems purposeful at any rate for an odd sort of word to come up over and over (only previous time was "Our lives drift into a faceless sense of void" back with GT, I think).

this, really. Nicky & Richey's writing styles are rather similar, hence the great confusion on that infamous article (The Guardian, i think?) when they asked "Can Rock Lyrics Kill?" in regards of Richey's disappearance, only to use as an example This Is Yesterday, the only sole Nicky contribution on THB.

Richey is going to have a bearing on everything they do, just like all other life experiences. yeah, the Richey one is perhaps bigger than others and there are some clear references to him, but i suspect they didn't intend as many as have been listed here.
