Good idea for a thread.

There have been many over the years, for a long time it was this in nobody loved you...

Quote:
Cherry blossom tree - but at least you are free
Nobody loved you - like me
It's unreal now you're gone - but at least you belong
Nobody loved you - no no
There's a live version from oslo in 98 which has too much fairground organ on it but that bit hits with force, especially when james comes in after the solo. The slightly out of tune guitar adding something.
A travesty they took it off the 20th anniversary edition tracklisting.

Bonus lyric...

Quote:
We were young, and yet we were old
We were bought, and yet we were sold
We were body, and yet we were soul
We were rust and yet we were gold

And flowed, flowered for him, fluid neon origami trick, the unfolding of his distanceless home, his country, transparent 3D chessboard extending to infinity.
Inner eye opening to the stepped scarlet pyramid of the Eastern Seaboard Fission Authority burning beyond the green cubes of Mitsubishi Bank of America,
and high and very far away he saw the spiral arms of military systems, forever beyond his reach.
And somewhere he was laughing, in a white-painted loft, distant fingers caressing the deck, tears of release streaking his face.

"They dress your cage in its nature"

I think the lyrics are moving and sad in that the song really touches on the destruction of freedom of animals and nature.

I find it a very moving performance from james, i just keep reminding myself it was only a few years after richey went missing so it's still quite fresh for them.

I assume this is about signing autographs so just comes across as a whinge to me.

Tiny Massive hands.
The Godfather 3 line where he never can escape haha!
Probably all of Engage with your Shadow but it is hilariously bad to chuckle and cringe at.
The line of chance to eat their food even though it's been chewed.

As for ones that 'hurt' me in a certain way, there's a couple of songs on a whole that 'get me' with the lyrics and music when I'm feeling emotional or depressed or lonely. Some Kind of Nothing, Hold Me Like A Heaven, The Everlasting...

And just the moment in butch Cassidy and the Sundanese kid, I’m perpetually stuck in a sepia film.

Like islands in the stream that get washed away one more time in the ghetto you say…. A song for the sadness: last chorus

A very simple one that’s come back to me listening to the KYE reissue… the “keep it together, hold it together” bridge in My Guernica cut through a lot of what I was going through around that time. The way that whole song sounds like it’s one second away from shaking apart, moving too fast for the verses to keep up, the desperation of trying to hold it all together - that was the sound of 21 year old me discovering panic attacks for the first time.

As the flags fall down
The statues crack and drown
We clap for a crumbling state
Inventing rules which we can't break
But take no blame
We enter a night of nothingness
Even your shadows disappear
Reality becomes an apology
And waking up the catastrophe
Reminds me of Russia and Iran right now.
