Ummm...is the UK a country? I've never looked at that region as a country, more like a federation of seperate countries. But hey, what do I know?

So sorry to have caused somekind of silly debate over who should get first dibbs on tix for this Glasgow show. Of course I don't think other British fans shouldn't have the opportunity to see the Manics anywhere. I just think that in a perfect world, those who live in a particular region should have access to tickets first. I'd think the same about any country or city if the gig was as small as this one seems to be.

Willya all stop moaning about where they're playing and where they're not please. We're getting a gig that we didn't expect, and even those of us who can't be there for whatever reason will still get new pictures, and perhaps some new information about the band's plans for the year. I am going to try to get tickets, if I don't it's OK, if I do it's wonderful, but either way I'm just very, very glad that the band I love are still gigging and producing new music.

It depends on what means you use to define "country".

I'd say that the UK is a country. Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland are nations within that country.

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation! So that means I can refer to the UK as a country, eh? I've always been hesitant to do so because I wasn't quite sure how the majority of the UK felt about that. Good to know!

Kay! Like I said, what do I know? I'm not from the UK so I've no idea how it's viewed internally. I hope no one took offence to my query.

Thank you. It's like people moaning about too many London dates last year. I can't wait, and I've never been to Glasgow properly either.

I doubt it! It's like asking if Canada or the US are countries though. People in england probably don't care, people in scotland very often refer to their countries as individual countries, but the UK is definitely a country.

Good luck to those who claim they are definitely going if there are only 300 tickets

Well the real name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It's on your passport.

And Great Britain is the island/islands that make up England, Scotland and Wales.

Either way, I'll be going for a ticket on wednesday, even if I am from Newcastle.
