Well, it appears that BBC America has dropped the ball. Doesn't look like they appear to be interested in posting part 3 of Sean's interview where the possibility of U.S. dates are discussed. Part 2 of the interview was posted over two weeks ago! Oh,well....
UPDATE: LOL. Guess they heard my complaints! "Yeah, definitely. We're looking at March/April next year. We're not gonna wait 10 more years to come see you guys and drive coast to coast! We loved it and got a lot of inspiration from our last trip to the States," -Sean. Sounds good to me! Bring on March/April. Now let's get those cities/dates planned!

SXSW in Austin, TX is March 16-20. I predict they will be there.
!!!I will freak the fuck out. The only thing that sucks about sxsw is that everyone plays short sets because of tight scheduling so I'm sure I'd go to another show or two in other cities while they are here.

dear god, no. i would much rather they do their own full show than so some lame 30 min set to a bunch of people who could care less about them.

Yeah, but it isn't just about playing a 30 minute set is it? It's more often then not a chance to showcase your music to a large audience most of whom haven't heard your stuff for whatever reason, and possibly making a convert of a few here and there. Besides, the press coverage of massive festivals alone can get the word out much more effectively then a band known to only a handful of diehards playing their own gig. Plus, the pay cheque isn't too shabby either.

i wouldn't have a problem with them playing Coachella if the promoters of Coachella didn't have a ridiculous rule not allowing bands playing any other shows around the same time as the festival. i don't ever see myself going to Coachella. the idea of people of being around the types of people that attend Coachella is not my idea of fun. if the Manics were allowed to play their own show AND play Coachella, that would be a whole different story. besides, they have a big enough fanbase in Southern California to do their own headline show. they sold out their L.A. last year.

They need to hurry up and let us know, I need to know whether I can buy my plane tickets for Florida in February or not!
Also, if they only come to play SXSW I guess I'll be flying to Texas.

I really think they should hit some festivals whilst they are out there. How else are they gonna get exposure to the US scene....playing a handful of their own small gigs isn't going to do it, but that might.

If they want to do festivals, then March/April isn't the time to come. Most of the major music festivals are in the summer when we won't all free to death sitting outdoors for hours on end. :-D

I'd much rather they have festivals in March/April, rather than August like Lollapalooza in Chicago.

Yes, but travel is better. I don't look forward to following a band with winter weather in the mix. Ice is a bitch to travel with.

I thought they should have tried to hit a few festivals in the US, last year, with Journals. They have no chance at gaining any new fans with Postcards, in America at least. |
