Manic Street Preachers' James Dean Bradfield, has found performing solo a very different experience to that of playing with his band.
He explains: "When people look at a band, especially one that's been around for such a long time like the Manics, they look at you as a whole.
"They see an indelible spirit that somehow runs through all the band, and people somehow identify with that much easier than with one person.
"It's a strange feeling for someone who's been getting on stage with a band since 1986 - suddenly people are saying 'I don't really know you' and that is a challenge."
Although James is out promoting his debut solo album, the acclaimed Great Western, the Manics are already working on their next studio album - due in spring 2007.
