Manic Street Preacher and Swansea alumnus Nicky Wire was recently made an Honorary Fellow of the University.
Before he was conferred with the honour, he took a few moments to answer our questions.
What is your most abiding memory of Swansea University?
Happy-Lonely-Having a full grant. Nice room. Great books. Great friends.
What do you think is the most significant thing that happened to you while studying here?
A Studying the Spanish Civil War, which would later help me write 'If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next'.
Do you think your time here had an influence upon your music?
Yes. I found solitude in the landscape and learning. It gave me focus.
How would you describe Swansea to a stranger who asked you about the city?
Swansea has a soul.
Which is the best live band you've ever seen?
Marilyn Manson or Sonic Youth.
What is the meaning of life?
