The Manic Street Preachers will return to their Welsh roots next month for a special one-off gig in the community they sprang from.
The Brit Award-winning band yesterday announced they will play the Blackwood Miners Institute for Radio 2 In Concert on December 2. The live gig takes the band, formed in Blackwood in 1986, back to play their home town for the first time in almost a quarter of a century.
Tracks from their latest album, Postcards From A Young Man, will be performed with an array of their classic hits.
"It's been nearly 25 years since we played in our home town," said bassist Nicky Wire. "We are thrilled and excited to be returning to a venue where we have spent many hours honing our snooker skills before it became a live venue. It will be the smallest gig we have played in a long time which will no doubt lead to chaos."
For a chance to be in the audience, listeners can visit bbc.co.uk/radio2 or call 03700 100 200. The ticket giveaway is open until 5.20pm Thursday. Tickets are free, to be allocated at random.
