The Manics cancelled a Belgian festival date, then called off their American tour, rumours spread that the band had split.

Melody Maker exclusively spoke to James Dean Bradfield who confirmed: "No, it's nothing like that. We have just reached the end of 12 months of touring and promotion. I lost my voice and I needed a rest. It was just a case of tour psychosis. You just get sick of travelling. But we are still doing the tour of America.

We were there to cover the ill-fated US tour in full, too!
