James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore will raise money for Cardiff's Velindre Cancer Centre next year
Manic Street Preachers members James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore will participate in a charity hike next year.
The pair will hike through the Argentine region of Patagonia to raise funds for for Cardiff's Velindre Cancer Centre.
"In November 2015 we will be walking in the footsteps of our Welsh ancestors when we will be part of the Velindre group of 50 people celebrating the 150th anniversary of Welsh settlers arriving in Patagonia with a challenging six-day trek," reads a JustGiving fundraising page for the cause.
"We will be carrying all our own kit, camping and walking up to 11 hours a day. Although this is a tough challenge, it is nothing compared to the challenge faced by people dealing with cancer.
"We have pledged to raise at least £6,000 each so that Velindre can continue to provide exceptional care and support to cancer patients and their families, and every contribution will help towards their aim of achieving victory over cancer."
The band have so far raised £890.55 via their JustGiving page, correct at the time of publishing.
Meanwhile, the group recently discussed how they "blanked out" former member Richey Edwards' troubles before his disappearance in 1995.
"I probably blanked it out," bassist Nicky Wire told BBC Radio 4. "We told ourselves he was writing about these dark things in a journalistic kind of way, writing from the point of view of an anorexic, and so much of our stuff was loaded in that way."
Edwards was the band's primary lyricist for their third album 'The Holy Bible', which the band will perform in full on tour next month. The Manics will also release a 20th anniversary edition of the album during December.
