There's a world of a difference between playing at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium and the old Bay Hotel, Gourock.
But Manic Street Preachers' singer James Dean Bradfield puts them both in the knockout category.
The Manics are due to bring football fans to boiling point at the Wales- Italy international on October 16.
But the previous Saturday he has a special gig lined up for Scots fans - a solo night before 250 fans at a secret venue.
He agreed to do the one-off concert - to launch the band's greatest hits album, Forever Delayed - because he and his mates love Scots fans.
James reckons one of the band's biggest ever buzzes was a gig at the Gourock hotel.
James said: "All the band love coming to Scotland.
"The first gig we did here was at the Bay Hotel in '91 and it still rates as one of our all-time favourites."
His solo gig on October 9 is part of the excellent Up Close series hosted by the Royal Bank of Scotland and Scottish Radio Holdings.
He will perform classics from the new CD - such as Everything Must Go and A Design For Life - which spans the Manics' 13-year career.
James added: "I'm really looking forward to playing some of our biggest hits in an intimate setting."
Tickets for James' solo show will be like gold dust. The only way to get hold of them is by tuning into SRH radio stations.
Or get next week's Diary when we'll be giving away some in a free contest.
I can't wait to see the Manics rock the SECC on December 4 as part of their greatest hits tour.
