Title: I Am Changeable Like A Model
Publication: Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger
Date: Wednesday 21st May 2014
Writer: Josephine Pabst

The Manic Street Preachers play a concert at the Live Music Hall. Before the show, bassist Nick Wire spoke with the "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger" on the cathedral city, outlandish outfits and the upcoming 30-year anniversary band.

Mr. Wire, which you connect to Cologne?
Good things. In the last 20 years, we were determined seven, eight times in Cologne, had fantastic concerts. Only at smaller venues, then on larger stages. We always try to take us time so that we can enjoy the city. Going for a walk, see the cathedral.

They are notorious for outlandish stage outfits. Have you already chosen the wardrobe for the next concert in Cologne on 21 May?
As for the look, I am changeable as a model (laughs) At the moment inspired me Sid Vicious of the "Sex Pistols".. I wear leather jacket and spikes gelled hair.

Next year celebrate the Manic Street Preachers 30-year band anniversary. Does the band have any ideas?
We are all now 45 and still have enough desire, enough inspiration to make new recordings. We have already always exists outside of movements, we were never part of something. We make Manic Street Preachers music: emotional, intellectual, post-rock with a bit of ruckus. And yet we love to be in a band. But it's also hard for us and our families. We see our children often grow up from afar. So, I do not think we will be the next "Rolling Stones". I do not know how to do that.

Can you still suffer the other band members well?
If the tape does not work, we come together not so much, but we talk. We are still very close. Only after the shows we do not make as much party. We need to conserve our energy - it's what happens when you get older.
