There was, disappointingly, no cursing from this award's presenter, Shaun William Ryder, simply a from-the-heart, "It's always good when you get one of these and give it to somebody that really deserves it." A big favourite with the assembled throng as well as those who sent in voting slips, the Manic Street preachers were represented by singer James Dean Bradfield and silent drummer Sean Moore: "Erm, ta very much. Thank you to Marti Hallenberger, and Rob Stringer-Snuffledog; Wimbledon and Wimbledon supporters respectively for their tyrannical support, and misplaced faith. Also to Mike Hedges and Ian Grimble for being chaps and to Hall Or Nothing and Sony, blah de-blah-de-blah. Ta. Boyo!"
