Only those ignorant people would see Yes' thread as "ignorant" and "annoying".
The guy likes the manics and their music, and he just can't understand how some fans are. I mean, i got nothing against those fans. A bit weird for me, but they're doing what they want to do. I like the manics, and i like their music. Always thought Nicky dresses idiotic, and Sean has a bad haircut, and Richey could write but not play for shit. James is seriously the only one in the manics that i like, love his voice and his guitar playing, up there with liam gallagher and thom yorke in the best front men of the world for me. I also alway thought it was cheesy to act a certain way if you like a certain band. My fave band is oasis, but i dont do (a lot of) drugs and drink everyday and just slag everyone off all the time. Sure i'll say i'm madferit here and there, but thats about it. I also love BRMC, but i dont wear black and bash the us government every day. So for the manics as well. I don't get the people that read CERTAIN books, and act or dress a certain way. You like nicky? sure. But you are NOT nicky. Trying to be nicky is pointless and stupid. If it makes you happy, sure, but i seriously doubt i could date any girl who was obsessed and acted like him, or a guy that also wore what he wore and put eyeliner on coz of him. Totally pointless. You dont have to dress like the band you like, read what they read, or like what they like. Everyone's got a personality, and you should always try to be yourself, rather than someone else. That' the beauty about human beings, we are ALL different, and its pointless to act like someone else. Needless to say i love the manics by the way. And now i am just waiting for that post, the usual "FUCK U, U MOAN, U ARENT DIE HARD, DONT U DARE TALKING ABOUT MY NICKY, I CAN BE WHOEVER I WANT, IF I WEAR TIGER PANTS THATS COZ I LIKE IT" and all that. Anyway, what can you do. P.S. when are the fucking manics coming to america FFS

all (or certainly most) bands and artists have a type of fan who dresses like the band, thinks the band can do no wrong etc etc. a prime example was in the mid 90's when i remember practically every other bloke in his mid twenties was swaggering around like a trained monkey because they thought Liam Gallagher was 'cool'  if some manics fans have read certain books because there has been quotes on artwork or the band have mentioned them, surely that's a good thing? it's a better example to set than drugs isn't it? i'm sure radiohead have fans who think thom yorke is god. coldplay have fans who read up on whatever chris martin scribbles on his hand. girls aloud have fans who wear the same clothes they do. sure the manics have fans who really need to get over the fact that richey has gone and get on with their lives, especially as nine times out of ten they never even met the man. but then so do elvis fans. so yeah, some manics fans are probably arrogant dicks but most are not. but like i said you could post that question on pretty much any bands forum and get the same answer

I've loved the Manics like most people on here for years.But I've never been into copying how they dress, or reading any of the books that the Manics like to read.I just love their music and they are nice people too.I do love to get right down the front at gigs if i have the chance though.Mostly because I'm a short arse and I want to see the band up close.I don't like going to a gig to be right at the back. To me there is no point in going to a gig if you can't see the band on stage.

On the subject of arrogant dicks, a friend of mine recently said to me that the Manics are 'the worst eighties band not from the eighties' With hindsight, I maybe should have just replied 'dick'

Manics are fans are a mixed bunch. I've met loads throughout the years and it's only ever been since the invention of "Mondeo Man" that the Manics fanbase has suffered slightly. I've met manics fans who are just utter tossers in person and some who are just diamonds but that has no reflection on why they like they band. They dig the music, maaaaan. Isn't that what it's all about?.
