I don't know what to think about the artwork (if it is the real one); however the joy -at least for me- is the "reverse R", cause the previous albums that used that kind of "R" are f***** amazing!

So, there is still hope left for the band!! (cross fingers)

My sentiment exactly! (Mind you, I prefer SATT to RTF (or WTF, as I fondly abbreviate it) by several country miles. )

If you turn to Radio 2 right now, Green Gartside (wearing camo) is being interviewed by Sara thingy. He might mention the support slot with the Manics.
(This is the closest we've got to Futurology news!)

EDIT: He mentioned them at 38 minutes in, for those of you listening on i-Player.

With digital stuff, i doubt most people buy real cds and therefore probably don't buy based on the cover .

And anyway, firstly i don't see why it's awful, and secondly it may not even be the cover.

I like it! And I like it when they use the backward Rs too, gives them more of an identity having a proper band logo. Intriguing! Hopefully we'll get more info next week

I agree, and would say thirdly even if it is the cover (or the image used for it) it's difficult to judge how well it represents or relates to the music and lyrics of the album until we can listen to it.

That said people are entitled to a purely aesthetic reaction, of course.

It has links to Germany as does the album (apparently).
The band have always had a feminist slant and the picture itself to me is quite striking. It pisses over PFAYM and RTF covers, I like it!

A backwards R would have made more sense as part of the word 'Rewind' than 'Future' IMHO.

Only this band could call an album Futurology and still make references to the past.

Indeed
Don't we love them?

Strange picture, but don't mind the backward R's. I remember stunning gigs with those albums!

Also another shot from Kieran Evans in Berlin

Personally, I hate the backwards R's. It looks like a 5 year old trying to spell the band name.

As for the possible album cover - let's put it this way, I won't be buying any merch if this is the style they're going for. We might have criticised the RTF cover but at least it looked half decent.

What's the link with Germany? Just out of curiosity!

And I know this an epic derail, but their feminism has always been a bit painful I felt - they try, but they miss the point completely! Take LBN, where the message basically is "well, she's a bit thick, and "hopelessly passive and compatible"", but don't take it against her, be nice". Which is better than nothing, but also a bit - naive. And this picture is so outdated in its blatant message - woman and meat on the counter, anti-consumerism, pro-feminism, yada yada yada, that it is just cringeworthy. Does it date from the 70s or 80s? I'd find it understandable then as a document of those times.
But hey! At least it isn't beige!
