No, I meant 10th. It's been a long wait so far.

I wouldn't be surprised. I think then and still now they see that as their big "banker" album of the 2000s.

Doubt they'd be connected physically, but if the manics do something for the 10th anniversary it would be a great time to release the documentary.

It's very simple. These guys made a documentary that happened to be made during what the band consider as the worst period of their career for them. Now I know that the doc covers their entire career to some degree, but the original footage was captured during the dark days that the band always slag off. Therefore this is why the doc has no support from anyone associated with the band or the label. I can't question the quality of the doc as I haven't seen it but if the doc was made during the current Futurology period, for example, during a time that the band is getting all this critical acclaim, then I'm 100% the band would help them re: music rights or funding.

^ Agreed...sadly. Given the manics' ability to completely disown their past albums and move on, and the fact it largely focused on LB/PPFT in the Manics' minds...

My guess would also be the reason the deal changed was to do with a slump in fortunes of the label in the later 2000s.

I agree that they're the dark days but I would have thought since, as has been pointed out, they saw SATT as their lifeline, they'd be more likely to view making that record and releasing it to the big reaction they had as a positive thing, so would more more likely to support the release of the film. If anything, making the doc now would be pointless as the 'story' of the making of SATT is (possibly, I haven't seen any of it) the path to redemption? But your point makes a lot of sense if they just want to erase 2000-2007 from their history.

What I mean to say is that you could take that same logic and come to the opposite conclusion.

I just think it'll be cool to see the band in the studio working on the then-new songs and seeing them doing everyday things like Bradders cooking or Sean with his rifle and Nicky doing some gardening or whatever it is he does in the film.

no manifesto had stuff from when they recorded SATT so it's a good idea to include it in an anniversary package

If they did a Kickstarter I'd be interested in paying extra for footage that doesn't make the final cut, like full performances of rarely played songs - stuff like the Further Away rehearsal that was put on to Youtube. Or maybe a deluxe version with a second DVD with that extra footage.

With everyone seemingly loving Futurology and due to the recent success of The National documentary, there could very well be a renewed public interest in the band and music documentaries. I've seen the documentary, its definitely worth everyone else seeing it too. There is a good story to tell.
