1) Avoid conversations with people who don't like them. The Manics have an extensive back catalogue which they haven't listened to. They don't know what they're on about and you'll just get annoyed and upset having the same conversation again and again and again.
2) Don't pay too much attention when the Manics talk politics in interviews. The songs are better when you arrive at their meaning through your own experiences and point of view. The real world politics of the band are far less interesting than their musical output would suggest. 3) give yourself a night alone listening to random songs more often. That song you forgot all about is the reason you love them.

1. Why do you think that girl asked for a photo with you at the 1999 Dublin Point gig? She wanted a bit of Pete action. Wake up and go for it.
2. Why do you think that girl got you alone with her after the 2001 Dublin Smithfield gig? She wanted a bit of Pete action. Wake up and go for it. 3. The 2011 O2 gig is a big deal but you don't need to spend all that money to go to prove how hardcore a fan you are. |

Yep! Don't become friends with other Manics fans just because they are Manics fans. You will waste one year of your life to an obsessed midgety freak who's jealous as hell and has fantasies about him being Richey and me being "his Nicky" (I'm a girl, WTF???).

1). Start with EMG, pick which songs grab you and work outwards. Pretty much every sound they've ever toyed with before or since is evident in some way on that album.
2). Don't shout for Sleepflower at gigs. 3). Don't mention queuing etiquette. Ever. |

If a friend calls you from a London record-fair in the early-ish 90s, tell her to buy that "New Art Riot"-EP for you, even if blotchy dirty-pastel-rosa is not REAL pink.

1) Don't bother with the SECC gig in 1998, you'll have a shit time and even throw up at one point
2) after you've heckled Starsailor in 2001, don't leave for a piss as the rest of the crowd eventually joins in and jeers them offstage 3) don't pay for SATT, wait til it costs £3 or less in Fopp. Then don't listen to it |

1. Pay very close attention to that CD with the three blokes standing on a beach on the cover that your dad has just brought, in about 9 years time this band will change your life.
2. After only having heard odd bits of TIMT and EMG dont listen to FD. It'll confuse the hell out of you and put you off for a few years. 3. Dont lend the girl you fancy THB in an attempt to convert her, she'll only hate it ( her favorite band was the corres ) and think your a bit weird for liking this kind of messed up stuff. |

The forum or the best of? Really enjoying this thread! For all our different outcomes, we all have Manics related regrets!

I was on holiday and as soon as I pretty much got home I came down with a nasty flu and had to go to London the next morning! If I had known this would happen, I'd have probably skipped my trip away because that was a very likely reason for me being ill!!

1. Be born in or at least much nearer to the UK!
2. Save more money! 3. Go backstage after you have found out that the security guy at the venue door is your fellow countryman and is willing to let you in!

1. Don't worry that that it will be 12 years in the making before you see them play live. It will be worth the wait, just trust me!
2. Learn to accept most of your friends and the greater majority of Aussies have no idea who MSP are, its like your own secret club. 3. Never meet your heroes, they will only disappoint you is complete bollocks, it makes you love them more! |
