They were 2nd to the Pretenders. The Levellers were busy pulling in a record breaking crowd while headlining the Pyramid Stage. True story and amazing scenes.

Hey, the Levellers would be way lower down this year's bill than the Manics. Shit happens.

But that was when glastonbury crowds consisted of working class people, travellers and gippos, not middle class yuppies and posh students

I've finally understood what are guys preparing for us.
this is the scenario:

coming on stage
James: hello, we are the Manic Street Preachers, as you know an album we've released years ago has it's anniversary this year so we're gonna play it in it's entirety, I hope you'll enjoy it!!

1985
Nixon
Empty Souls
A Song for Departure
I Live to Fall Asleep
To Repel Ghosts
Emily
Glasnost
Always/Never (with Flea on bass and Nicky in the audience)
Solitude Sometimes Is
Fragments
Cardiff Afterlife

James: thank you, we are wonderful. You make me forget what a bypass on a shithole this is!!! For you wonderful people we'll play some extra tracks.

Everyone Knows/Nobody Cares
All Alone Here
Everything Will Be
Leviathan

James: thank you very fucking much, this is the last song we're gonna play, goodnight!

The Instrumental

That would be the best Glastonbury set imaginable!

I am still hopeful for The Intense Humming of Evil as the set's sole track before they leave the stage.

Yes and be sure I would come even if I had to steal some money

actually I'm thinking about organising czech manics fans meet-up in Autumn and I would play the whole Lifeblood and the whole THB on guitar and we would all sing. wouldn't it be great too?

Holy Bible set DENIED

Quote:
"That was slightly tongue in cheek," laughed bassist and lyricist Nicky Wire. "I think Jack White is on at the same time as us at Glastonbury so we're not expecting the biggest crowd. We'd probably clear the whole field.

"We couldn't do that anyway, because can you imagine if we did all of The Holy Bible at Glastonbury and then all of our hardcore fans didn't get to see it? They'd hate us forever. We'll chuck a couple in, that's for sure."

Frontman James Dean Bradfield continued: "I'm not sure that 'The Intense Humming Of Human Evil' is going to work in a big field."
