Couldn't agree less on the quality of SATT's title track... I think it's one of the 20 best tunes of their backcatalogue... Actually: It's simply perfect!
And "The Second Great Depression" is ace, too... At least that's how I see it.

Agree on YLAINE, though... They should've dropped that one and "Working Class Hero" for "Boxes & Lists" and "Red Sleeping Beauty"....

If they'd done that we would never have gotten 'Journal' or 'Postcards' because the album would have bombed without a great first single. And if it had bombed I don't think they'd have carried on.

How can anyone hate Autumnsong so much? Tis an uplifting song and just makes me feel crazily happy whenever I hear it!

No, YLAINE is better than Boxes & Lists IMO. In fact, the latter really doesn't do anything for me at all. I think it's probably one of the most average songs they've done in the past few years.

Love Letter To The Future on the other hand...

Ooooooh! Controversial! I'm happy with Boxes & Lists being a b-side, I do love it though obviously!

I despised the 'Autumnsong' video with the hair flipping.

YLAINE Definitely needs to be on the album, it works as a single and therefore a selling point for the album.
Personally I love the title track when James sings "Look at me I'm honest and I'm free" it just sounds like Rock perfection to me

Out of all the albums it is my least favourite, but as I do love it anyway. I just think it is too short and Indian Summer and Second Great Depression would have been better as b-sides.
However most people seem to agree that the Manics do tend to do amazing B-sides, so maybe we should just be used to them not always selecting the best tracks for the albums by now

I adore 'Imperial Bodybags', 'Underdogs' and 'Rendition'
Maybe the album isn't as great lyrically as the others, but the tracks are nicely upbeat and it is easy listening.

I think the title track is the best song on the album

I think PFAYM is a better album than SATT but I like them both. I even like Autmnsong. I don't care for Underdogs, Indian Summer or Winter Lovers. And I think the cover of Working Class Hero is completely terrible (but most of the manics covers are --- other than Umbrella).

But the Bsides of SATT are amazing. MUCH better than the PFAYM bsides so far. Pretty much any SATT bside is as good or better than any track on the actual cd. They were on fire for those bsides.

Thanks for reminding me, I had nearly forgotten about it

I think the first rule of FD should be that you DO NOT TALK about the Autumnsong video

At least the label version isn't as bad as the band's own version with the two girls.

My only disappointment with the two girls is that the one dressed as a devil didn't rock out more.
