It was excellent, surprisingly rough where I was stood. Didn't expect to leave sweaty and hoarse.

Was one if the best festival performances I've seen them do. Some old songs not heard for a while and Jackie Collins was a lovely surprise. Great reaction from the crowd and brilliant ending with tikka tape fluttering down to the end Of ADFL. They really seemed to enjoy themselves, I certainly did. :-)

Great food at that place too. Had some lovely pizza from Voodoo Rays and nice meantime lager.

Also pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Pretty much the best you could ask for in terms of a festival set. Jackie Collins and Masses superb, plus the run of MASH-Despair To Where-La Tristesse. Lively crowd where I was stood too.

The rest of festival was pretty good, enjoyed Elbow. Pretty tough act following that Manics set but made a decent go of it, and they dedicated a song to the boys for their support when they were starting out.

I was very surprised to hear them make reference to having played a gig in Brockwell Park in Herne Hill of all places... sure enough, they did, in 1994.

Setlist:
Repeat
From Despair To Where
Faster
Slash 'N' Burn
Stay Beautiful
Motorcycle Emptiness
Love's Sweet Exile
P.C.P.
Life Becoming A Landslide
Roses In The Hospital
Motown Junk
You Love Us

On Facebook I'm seeing petitions for the Manics to do a John Lewis Christmas ad. (Is it John Lewis or something else?)
Was that based on a remark James made on stage?

Yeah, the line was something like.. "Sponsored by John Lewis! They could ask us to do this year's Christmas song! *guitar strum* Death and despair, it's Christmas..."

Any video footage from this gig? I saw a video interview with Nicky on Absolute Radio on Youtube earlier.

Wonderful gig to end a brilliant year and a half. Nice to hear the likes of La Tristesse and JCEQT, been a long while, even Kevin Carter! The band were loving it as much as the crowd, now for some well earned time off.

It was! We almost had fisticuffs near us which I wasn't expecting at a John Lewis sponsored event. But probably the most up for it festival crowd I've seen in a long time.
