The album sounds to me like an album made by a person who really enjoyed making it (which I don't think has been the case for many recent Manics albums, quite frankly).
Listened to it last night and will listen to it again today. |

I think I've found a rival to the Underdogs edit on Recuerda - there's a weird low grunt noise on around 34 seconds immediately before the line "Disappeared those who would not obey", almost sounds like a quiet belch. Don't know why they just didn't edit that out. I can't unhear it now.

1 Biffy Clyro - A Celebration Of Endings (20.8k) *
2 Sea Girls - Open Up Your Head (6.5k) * 3 James Dean Bradfield - Even In Exile (4.8k) * 4 The Levellers - Peace (4.3k) * 5 Taylor Swift - folklore (4.1k) Strong start. Let's hope it can stay top 10. Never heard of "Sea Girls". |

Such poor sales for albums at the moment, but I guess it's good for James to get a high ranking album. Hopefully he can hold on for top 5 but I guess most of us have already bought it now. It'll sink like a stone within the next few weeks I imagine, but it's never going to get the promotion that a new Manics album would normally get.

I've seen a few pics of this insert with the guitar and Jara quote - is it specific to the HMV version?

Thirty thousand milk bottles still remains the standout track for me.
There are bits of other tracks i love, like the morricone sounding stuff on la partida, the verses on from the hands of violeta or the chorus of the last song but they tend to veer off onto wild tangents i'm not entirely keen on. It's certainly a schizophrenic album in places. Nice! I like the minimalist look, i see you're targeting the crossword puzzle connoisseur there. What about a photo of james on the cover? I can imagine one of his current lockdown vibe appearances on there, looking like he's concentrating super hard on his next puzzle... https://twitter.com/ClashMagazine/st...229248/photo/1

I've ripped the audio from the Youtube clip of Atacama Dust as an mp3 if anyone wants it. Can I upload it here or is it against the rules?

Don't know if this has been posted yet, but here's Jara's original version of La Partida - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAsS2w4dSEc
I hope he'd like what James did with it. |

I can really imagine JDB's version of La Partida in Red Dead Redemption.

The last song reminds me slightly of Winterlovers in places. Brilliant album, current favourite is Recuerda.

I'd love to hear James have a go at manifesto even if he says it's rubbish. If he needs help with Spanish pronunciation I'm more than happy to volunteer safely socially distanced of course
I'm not much into folk music - knowledge of it fits on the proverbial postage stamp- but I've been enjoying what I've heard so far of Victor's songs. Thought they'd be all acoustic guitar or piano and a bit dull tbh, a forced "yeah that's nice" and never listen to again, but nope I stand corrected. I'll be playing them for a while.
