Everything Live - still no DVD?
Is there any reason there has never been a DVD release of the Manics seminal 1997 gig at the MEN on DVD?
I have an old VHS copy (complete with the nice postcard photos). And an old recorded of Radio 1 (back in the day Radio 1 was a credible radio station) cassette tape of the gig (sadly couldn't make it). Its such a big part of Manics history that its a shame that its never been given a dvd release. |

Interesting - thanks for posting! Why no domestic release though?

Should've been packaged with the EMG reissue, strange that it's never had a proper DVD release.

going on tzb's link, it was even a Region 2 DVD for release in Japan? that's very peculiar, as i am sure they are on a different zone and not on the PAL standard anyway? i suppose there's a presumption of "limited interest" and a feeling they have enough Live DVDs out as it is (although who wouldn't swap Cuba for this or a JFPL DVD?), or maybe they are keeping it in the bank for a later release / re-issue campaign.

What you have to remember is that a bands inclination will always be that their newer stuff is better; same as anyone in any job. Would you want people constantly harping on about a days work you did in 1996?

Yeah, Japan is Region 2 for DVD (though annoyingly for me, region A for Blu-ray) but uses NTSC video.
I have the DVD and really it's not the most amazing thing ever, though nice to have, it's about the bare minimum improvement one would expect an NTSC DVD could be over a PAL VHS tape.

in a recent Viz there's a Drunken Bakers where one of them brings a tramp back to the bakery as he has a backpack full of bottles. he keeps doing dances at random in it, and that's what i am imagining here.
let me see if i can find it and upload it, unless someone beats me to it.
