Lifeblood - The perfect MSP Winter album?

I find the coldness and disconnection I feel when listening to Lifeblood to be the perfect winter album. Each song just sounds better when outside in the elements of cold, wet, weather. Anyone feel this also?

I can't hear it without thinking of the first time I heard it, morning of release, on a cold and damp day on Brighton beach. It definitely has that late autumnal-early winter feeling to me.

I agree it's a winter/autumn album. Actually, I've got the same thought as you.
And I find Generation Terrorist to be a summer mornings' album as well.

Actually, except This is My Truth and Lifeblood, the Manics' albums all have such a morning sound. Well, the two albums are good for the morning too, if you wanna start the day in a light mood, but I mean, these two fit also the night as well, but the rest is mostly fitting with the morning.
I dunno, just a personal impression.

Definitely. You know those Friday nights when you just want to stay in with a 3-bar heater and a takeaway? I Live to Fall Asleep is meant for those kind of days...

Hmm, I haven't thought of Manics albums seasonally, though I can definitely see how it'd be good for winter.

For me, Lifeblood is the perfect album to play whilst driving down a curvy highway, perhaps speeding at bit (), at nighttime.
Cardiff Afterlife, Live to Fall Asleep, etc at 11pm, on a twisty-turny road--great feeling.

You don't really need the word 'winter' in that statement.

But yes, it's perfect for the beautiful white snowfall and the cold, dark evenings hutched inside in your own chambers.

I like to listen to The Great Western when driving from London to Wales. "And as we cross that bridge, it feels like a holiday"... "And as the rain falls down"...

James said something during the promo about the romantic feeling of being in Wales when it's pissing it down outside, and I think I know what he means.

I can listen to it all year round and not get bored of it. Cruelly underrated, what a shame! But I think it is perfect winter listening.

I just love the first three tracks of 1985, Nixon and Empty Souls. Those are three of the best ever Manics tracks for me and for an album to have those three opening one of the best yet underrated albums of the bands history is pure bliss. Yes, Lifeblood will get a lot of listening this winter
