Dubious of Mogwai, seeing them next week and they're hardly playing the small-sized venues you'd expect a Manics support to do.
Hope they announce it soon, I have a terrible feeling that the recent excellent run is about to end and they'll be abysmal.

I'd love to see The Horrors support but I think they are too big and they have headlined Brixton themselves, albeit in 2012.
The Manics seem to be quite hit and miss with their support acts. Even going back to GATS era, they had Credit to the Nation and Blaggers ITA (me neither!) supporting then Sleeper on THB tour and Marion/Stranglove/Whiteout at the Astoria shows. The funniest scene was watching about 20 people get books out when The Stereophonics supported. BSP weren't too bad but to me the lowest point was The Departure and Razorlight. But then, that's probably just me getting old!! |

Ha, what was he saying exactly? Usually it's the other way round (Elbow spring to mind).

Thought Razorlight were the best support I've seen for the Manics. Enjoyed The Enemy too.

They ended up having to switch the lights on, power down the sound system and security carted him off stage. He was a knob.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Richard Hawley. Definitely won't be The Horrors as I believe their management will currently only have them as the headliners, not matter how big the band they are asked to support. If Toy's management have any sense (given their current rise) they should now be starting the same policy.
Richard Hawley has the obvious recent connection. Plus he's not a hot young thing that needs to create the impression of rising to the top. Also, the Manics tend to favour artists slightly more muted than themselves as openers these days.
