Impossible to choose as the Manics are one of the best b-sides bands of all time. But for today I will say "Just A Kid". Tomorrow, who knows?!

These threads are great for reading and making you go '*track x* … what?! Really?!?'

So difficult for me to choose one, but I guess some that immediately sprang to mind (with the strict no-album/no Liptstick Traces tracks rule) would naturally include more post-LT b-sides like Broken Up Again, See It Like Sutherland, Kodawari (if we're not counting the Japanese Futurology release it appears on) What Happened to the Blue Generation

Also their Vision Blurred cover (of the original it seems we will never get to hear(!).

But I guess seeing as it's Pre-LT and I have to pick one, I'll say Fear of Motion (again, if we're not counting the Japanese KYE re-release it also appears on).

Door to the River. It's the most beautiful thing they ever did.

You prompted me to have a listen for the first time since FD came out - I couldn't have placed the song but hearing it again it's quite lovely. Strangely quavering vocal? Reminds you how much more powerful JDB's voice has become. Good choice!

'In hindsight, we wish we'd put it on the album.'

Not even my favourite b-side from that album's singles, never understood the universal praise for it. It's good and I'm glad I've heard it live, but that's about the extent of it.

Red Rubber
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgXAYotFDgg

Reasons:
- Rare foray by the Manics into African / colonial politics
- Smart lyrics draw you into the subject
- beautifully rendered verses, interspersed by driving chorus
- brilliant played really loud

Here is the inspiration for the song:

Red Rubber is, in my opinion at least, the best song from the PFAYM era. Should have been a single.

What's guilty about it? I know James wishes he'd made a better job of the music but it's still a fine track.
