Odd tracks

Just put together a list of any Manics tracks that I know of that are exclusive to compilation CDs. Thought it would be nice to post it here as some kind of resource (maybe it could even go on the MSPPedia?).

Some of these tracks are found on other MSP only releases but I thought I should include them as they seem significant such as the DMC promos (only availability on CD). Some were later released on Lipstick Traces but were originally recorded for a compilation.

Melody Maker - Five Alive [Cassette] – From Despair To Where (Live at Phoenix Festival 93)

Volume 11 – P.C.P. (Live at Glastonbury 94) [video on THB DVD]

Evening Sessions Priority Tunes - Penny Royal Tea (Nirvana cover) (Evening Session)

Help – Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head (BJ Thomas cover) [later on Lipstick Traces]

Later… Brit Beat – Small Black Flowers That Grow in the Sky (Live on Later) [video on EMG DVD]

Phoenix: The Album - From Despair To Where (Live at Phoenix Festival 96)

You'll Never Walk Alone - You Love Us / Raindrops Keep Falling… (Live at Anfield Stadium)

Sound City Leeds 1996 - You Love Us (live at Town & Country Club, Leeds 96)

NME: Annual Probe Volume 1 - This is Yesterday (live in Cardiff International Arena 98)

Live - 8 hit på Roskilde '99 (Danish Only CD) - You Stole The Sun From My Heart (live)

Five Alive Triple J Live 5 (Australia - 1999) – If You Tolerate This (Live at Big Day Out 99)

Musikexpress 28 (German Promo CD 1999 - The Everlasting (Live) (also on Dutch Everlasting Single)

1Love - Out of Time (Chris Farlowe cover) [later on Lipstick Traces]

Daily Express Garden Party Classics - A Design For Life by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

The Alternative Classical Collection - The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Plays Classic Rock - A Design For Life (same as above?)

Classic Rock - Epic Rock Anthems With Orchestra - A Design For Life (different version)

Help: A Day in the Life – Leviathan

Still Unravished: Tribute to the Junes Brides – Instrumental (cover)

NME Awards 2008 - Umbrella (Rihanna cover)

Guardian at the Festivals – A Design For Life (Live at Nynex 96) [also on Everything Live VHS]

This is BBC 6Music Live – If You Tolerate This (Hub session)

Later… Live with Jools Holland 2 – Jackie Collins Existential Question Time (Live)

Q Magazine – Back to Back to Black – Wake Up Alone (Amy Winehouse cover)

Britpop at the BBC – She Is Suffering (Evening session) [same as THB 10th anniversary?]

BBC Radio 2's Sounds Of The 80s: Volume 1 – Start Me Up (Rolling Stones Cover)

BBC Radio 2's Sounds Of The 80s: Volume 2 – Feels Like Heaven (Fiction Factory Cover)

Q Magazine - Absolute Radio Sessions - Everything Must Go (session) (unknown date)

Pretty sure it's just the studio version. If memory serves, that Select cd was pretty good though, so worth a punt next time you see it.

How about "It Will Take More Than a Grave to Burry You"? It wasn't on any compilation as far as I know, and it's more of a James' thing, but since it is pretty much a stand-alone song, I was wondering whether it be included on the list or not. Also "See it Like Southerland, which might have been later included as a b-side (if my memory doesn't betray me), but it was originally recorded for something else.

There was a Q Glastonbury CD a few years ago with a version of "If White America..." on it. Can't remember if it was a live or studio version though.

Made a few changes thanks to Rob (P2) for providing some more info.

Prologue to History from the Select CD was indeed just the studio version, remember having that CD at one point.

See Like Sunderland was recorded for BBC Radio Wales but was only available as a recording off radio till Anthem single was released.

As for the James track, I'm considering in creating a list for tracks only available as downloads. Could also do one promo only tracks such as the various remixes and instrumentals that have popped up in the past.

Q magazine out 28th October has an unreleased Absolute Radio Session on the cover CD. Don't know what song though.

Should Endless Plain be on the list? I know it was on vinyl, but it did come with a magazine and I got it from WH Smith

Thanks Aestivate and Michael for this, I've added it now.

Endless Plain is a bit of an odd one since it was a full on Manics release, though with a magazine.
