Archives of Pain - Chat Room

This is going back a long time ago. But did anyone who now posts on here used to go on that site and the chatroom all those years ago? We're talking around '99.

I did. I remember it back in 98/99 when I was 16/17.

Half a lifetime ago. Shit me.

Me. Most nights. I often wonder what happened to everyone seeing how I'm only in touch with one of the people now.

Off the top of my head I remember:
Sammi
Mooki(e?)
guy debored
lizzie
suicideally
ohbugger (chris)
lil richey
che (billy from glasgow)
nigel/legin
fuckmethenleave
sello_tape
slann (who lived in a shed in Stockport)
and whatever name price was using (probably "simon price")

then after Chris died, the place changed to manicshop (?) and was never the same. Trinity/Zahriel Omega (who thought he was Marilyn Manson) kind of took over for some reason. There were a few new people...then it all goes wonk. Did people stop going or did the site just end? I can't really remember.

I spent almost every waking minute on there, can remember a few forum members off there. Always felt a real and genuine community spirit on there. Fuck knows where everyone has gone though, Simon(Sello_Tape) did get in touch with me through here a couple of years ago, but he seems to have vanished.

Was 227lears your name there? I remember a number name.

Last I saw of Simon sello_tape was on myspace a long time ago and we were "myspace friends". He said he didn't use myspace a lot, and he didn't. I think he'd changed quite a lot but that was just an impression really. I didn't get to speak to him really.

I mostly spoke to Mookie and che, but no idea what happened to those two.

I mentioned manicschat.cjb.net (or whatever it was) here a couple of years or so back and someone was able to post archives of that website, including pics of the members etc. It was a real throw back.

Myself and about 4 or 5 of my friends went on there circa 1999/2000. We ended up meeting up with another couple of Irish people from there too.

I went by the name of Joy or JoyDivison. Some people in the world away from the internet still call me that because of that chat room and it is how i picked my current username on here, so there can be no confusion regarding my gender.

Not that i can remember a great deal, but I was fairly silly on the chat room and my spelling was even worse back then. However, there was a bit of kissing that went on thanks to that place!

Anyway..

Argh!! I just searched the thread you mentioned. I thought that gallery was lost forever! Remember more people now I've seen that list. I remember the Wymark person being especially hideous.

It was good we had that chatroom.

I spent a lot of time on there also. Seems like a lifetime ago now. I also knew Sellotape and many others. I don't really populate the MSP world much these days, but back then was my heyday. They were good - interesting times.
