Other than that, the structure of these three new songs is as predictable as my moaning about it, sadly. Expected a bit more than the usual verse/chorus/solo from this 'krautrock' album. Not much, just a bit. No evidence of that so far. Still, only one of the three sounds like it has any chance of being playlisted on Radio 2, so at least there's that.
It was never actually said to be 'krautrock' though? (by all means prove me wrong .) Just 'European'.

The intro and the sound effects on Europa are class, but I think Futurology is a much better song at the moment! I'd avoid as many spoilers as possible so Nicky taking the lead in the chorus was a great surprise!
Agreed they're typically formulaic but I'm impressed all the same

That rehearsed song sounds fucking terrifying, like it could be on a horror film soundtrack. Liking it very much.

Yeah, like that it's totally weird and sounds like something from a film/tv sound-track. I know James has said he wanted to write a film score well sounds like he has. Wurlitzer sound, distortion, twisted vocals, heavy breathing wheeze...... never thought I'd hear something like that from the Manics Bet Sean had a field day with this.
Now I really want to hear the album- totally got my interest.

It would make sense if it was, seen as Scritti Politti are supporting at Brighton and both London dates. Perfect opportunity to air that track really (although that doesn't mean they necessarily will of course ).

Rehearsal Song has a little promise, as long as it's not overproduced and flattened to hell on the album; that cavernous echo actually adds to that one.

also really not taken with the title track - typical Nicky-by-numbers tossed off excuse for a song, could just as well be a Postcards / Rewind b-side from what i've heard so far. hope to be proved wrong, but that track has cooled my anticipation a little.

The title track needs the chorus to sound big on record, I really think, the verses plod a bit but I think there's so much promise in that chorus.

I did reckon, when hearing Futurology at Bournemouth last night, that it would probably turn out to be a better song on record than it is live. I still enjoyed the performance though. Nicky's vocals weren't half bad.

Oh I totally enjoyed it, and Nicky sounded great!
I'm trying to reassure the strange folk that didn't think it was brilliant... The fools
