Iím no fan of the track either. Picked this user name having heard half of it that week on the radio before the album came out 😂

still waiting for sean's solo album with a lead single similar to intense humming of evil followed by trumpet solos on top of some drum machines - yumyum.

Haven’t made myself do this in far too long.

1. The Holy Bible
2. Journal For Plague Lovers
3. Lifeblood
4. This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours
5. Everything Must Go
6. Rewind The Film
7. Futurology
8. Generation Terrorists
9. Know Your Enemy
10. Gold Against The Soul
11. Send Away The Tigers
12. Postcards From A Young Man
13. Resistance Is Futile

Every time I’ve attempted this since JFPL, beyond the top 3 - and since PYAYM, the bottom 1/now 2, didn’t think that would change but here we are - I look at my ranking once I’m done like ‘really? Is that what I think? Huh.’ It’s so hard to order what’s just marginally/changeably less-favourite, and feels wrong to have some of them end up near or next to what is very definitely The Worst.

Just popping back on here to say I'm very concerned about the current use of crack cocaine among FD users, seeing as at least two people think Resistance Is Futile is a better album than Everything Must Go.

Just say no, kids. Cheerio! x

Hahaha! But no, I... Seriously love Resistance Is Futile. Of the 90's "comebacks" Suede made the better album last year, but Resistance Is Futile was a pretty strong effort.
We still cool?

1. THB*
2. EMG
3. TIMTTMY
4. KYE
5. LIFEBLOOD
6. GATS
7. RIF
8. GT
9. FUTUROLOGY
10. SATT
11. JFPL
12. RTF
13. PFAYM

My list has changed dramatically and might be to do with getting older!
THB is still top as I genuinely believe it's the greatest album of all time. It just all works for me.
But I also hate it. Its nasty and doesn't help my mental state and probably won't listen to it again.
I haven't listened to it since I saw it performed at the roundhouse.
I just don't need that negativity at the moment!

I've been a fan since 1996 and it seems nothing can shake EMG off the top spot.

1. Everything Must Go + Gold Against The Soul (solely for the singles)
2. Rewind The Film
3. Resistance is Futile
4. This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours
5. Futurology

This mid-section from 6 to 10 isn't set in stone. My heart hurts for placing PFAYM at no.7, as Golden Platitudes is absolutely one of my favourite Manics songs ever.

6. The Holy Bible
7. Postcards From a Young Man
8. Lifeblood
9. Journal For Plague Lovers
10. Know Your Enemy

11. Generation Terrorists
(12. GATS without the singles)
13. Send Away The Tigers

Itís been a while. Itíll all change again next week but number one and two always remain.

This Is My Truth. Itís an album of three thirds. Anthemic opening tracks. The introspective middle. The power pop to end out the album. The track listing is perfect. Nickyís writing is at its peak. I can see why ďNobody LovedĒ you was removed off the re-issue which is a pity as I feel it is Nickyís best song to his departed friend. A deep thoughtful album.

Know Your Enemy. KYE has become the forgotten album. The Cuban album. A sprawling raw energetic album that to me sums up best the rock sound that the band wanted. I always like to think that this would have been the album that Richey would have felt most proud of.

Rewind The Film. You have to spend more time in the shadows than the sun to appreciate the pure melancholy of the album.

Postcards From A Young Man. When an effort is made to really listen to the album you realise how damn good it is. From choirs and some wonderful mixing and production. It is a good album. Part of the problem that many might find with the album is that Jamesí singing can be quiet, quiet, loud, quiet, quiet, loud. You probably need to be or have been at the stage of life that Nicky was writing about to fully appreciate it. Knowing youíve done more living on one side and that there is less on the other.

Resistance Is Futile. A good solid album. The indie power pop influence from the 80ís is all through this album. Thatís is fine by me.

The Holy Bible. Their best album doesnít necessarily have to be everyoneís favourite.

Journal For Plague Lovers. They say the band owed it to Richey. Richey owed it to the band. Either way the band did it justice. The album is always going to be overshadowed by its older, bigger and more popular brother The Holy Bible. Itís a hard album to place in ranks. I probably do rate it higher at times.

Gold Against The Soul. Image wise the band never looked cooler or sexier than they did during this period. The album is not perfect but the wabi sabi is there. Best period single wise.

Everything Must Go. It feels quite sparse in its production now. Would it have made it if ďA Design For LifeĒ wasnít on it?

Lifeblood. Lifeblood crept up on me. It was that time when the music press was just hanging on by a thread. The internet was just about becoming ubiquitous and ta-da, a new Manics album. ďEmpty SoulsĒ is MOR perfection.

Futurology. Itís too short and needed a few more extra tracks to make the album complete. I donít like the way the songs blend into each other without a respectable gap between.

Send Away The Tigers. Really, really good B-side period.

Generation Terrorists. Thereís nothing wrong with it, but it does sound not dated but aged
