cancelled tour in 2001

i have noticed on MSPedia a m,assive cancelled arena tour at the end of 2001. I've never noticed this before and i certainly don't remember buying tickets and having it cancelled around that time. I presume this was planned but scrapped before it got to ticket selling stage due to the poor reaction to KYE? or was it something else?

Never heard of it either - is this like the 2003 acoustic tour which never happened, i.e. rumour based on a few comments in interviews?

I remember hearing that the european tour was cancelled as the band were trying to sort out the greatest hits and record some new songs. Didn't know there was a UK tour after that.

It's something I've wondered for ages. I remember seeing tour dates somewhere, possible a poster, but I can't really remember. I think Sheffield Arena was on there...

I had tickets to a show in Copenhagen for that tour, and had never seem them before... I was so disappointed when I heard it was cancelled!

There was talk about it was because Sean had just become a farther.

I also had tickets for that show!
I remember how it really, really sucked when they cancelled.
Thought it was about the 9/11 events initially.

Didn't really listen to the band for a few months after that due to anger.

I'm happy now.

Maybe they didn't sell enough tickets - considering it was KYE.

I doubt they would have done - by the time of the Greatest Hits tour they were only selling 70-80% of the capacity at most arenas. There's no way the KYE arena tour was commercially viable.

It was definitely more than a rumor. There was a complete, officially announced itinerary. It was a pretty big deal when it was cancelled. I'm surprised more people don't remember. The official line at the time was definitely that it was to allow them time to sort out a greatest hits and record a few new songs for it, though obviously 95% of the reaction at the time (if I remember correctly) was "OH MY GOD THIS IS IT THEY'RE BREAKING UP."

I definitely remeber talk of a greatest hits package hense why KYE only got the brief March UK tour. The European tour got cancelled and everyone thought it was post 9/11 panic but I think it was mainly cause one the band's first child was about to be born.

Anyways here's an archived version fo the old FD.com with it mentioned

I noticed this too and also had no idea that there were proposed dates back then (I didn't join this forum until 2003). Seeing the explanations for why this was cancelled makes sense. If I remember correctly, Sean became a father around this time.

They were supposed to play at Rote Fabrik in Zurich, but the date was cancelled. So no Swiss club Manic gigs in more than a decade...

Two nights at the NEC, SECC etc for KYE? Blimey.

I've never heard of this tour, but then again I had other things on my mind like a pain in the arse of a relationship break-up around the middle of 2001 so it wouldn't surprise me if I missed the news.

Those reasons for cancellation sound like a cover for the fact that they'd booked it in anticipation of KYE selling as many copies if not more than TIMT, which obviously didn't happen so they had to cancel.

The KYE tour schedule does make me think there should have been an arena tour - with TIMT they did the 'small' venue tour when the album came out, then the arenas at Christmas, then the festivals. There's a big arena sized hole in the KYE band calendar.
