Critical appraisal (albeit probably not very informed) is different to moaning

I don't want to reach the point where a new manics album isn't the most exciting thing ever. You're all allowed to euthanise me if I do.

Naw I'm with you Franny. Pretty much everything they've said has given the vibe that they're out to do something new again, something that'll shake things up nicely once more. I know they have a gift of great exaggeration but there's too many little factoids at play here for this album to turn out to be another SATT-a-like. It's all good and exciting to me, looking forward to it - hope we get to hear something new this year.

And another SATT-a-like it may well turn out to be, this Hawley fella could fit nicely into an "Imperial Bodybags" kind of tune I believe. The Cocteau Twins/MBV direction would've been much nicer IMHO but eh, I guess we'll see how things turn out.

I don't find the title evokes anything in me personally. I'm basing that on absolutely nothing though because there really is NOTHING to go on. Sutherland was a one off that the band have stated leaves no ideas as to where the album is going. Richard Hawley on.a duet? Seriously, that's all you could think of to sing on the record? I'm not a hater of Hawley but his northern drawl grates on me a bit. Again, NOTHING to go on there, the song may be amazing. Four Lonely Roads? Not a fan of Cate Le Bon but not heard the song so why disregard it already?. I want to feel excited again but I'm either older now that real adult responsibilities dull my senses a bit or maybe the Manics have done their greatest works and are now simply making enjoyable, inoffensive, music...

Well, personally I can't wait! Sorry to go against the flow, but I still love the band, and can't wait to hear what they've done!

Pretty psyched. Always interesting to hear Manics stuff. Even the songs I'm not fond of are at least interesting to listen to.

^ How is your excitement for this pending album "going against the flow" when only two people have said they're not excited (well, I said it and Sue agreed)? Also, lacking excitement for a forthcoming album is not the same as "shitting" all over it. I think I even mentioned I'd wait for the album to drop before I voiced an opinion for it. Listen, I've been a fan for about 21 years and I've recently lost interest in them, it happens...hardly the end of the world. :/

Makes me lol that people are moaning about the most promising news we've heard so far, i.e. the duet with Richard Hawley.
