Yeah exactly. My favourite Manics records don't sound like anyone else, I don't know why they seem so keen to say "we've tried to sound like x" every time they release a record. It shows at best a lack of self-confidence, and at worst a complete dearth of creativity.

I agree. I'd be more excited about the whole thing if they were saying "This album sounds like the Manics!"

I've no fear of the album sounding like Queen or whatever. Wasn't it Nicky suggesting such things anyway? I'm happy with a big, bombastic album as long it feels and sounds like a Manics album.

He said vocally it was like Queen, I can't see them being Queen in every aspect.

Am I wrong for liking Autumnsong, it's an amazing riff and really fun to sing to

I am somewhat surprised that you folkums actually continue to take Wire's descriptions on face value.

(re Autumnsong: an insanely large pile of cheese but it's fun cheese)

At least it's credible cheese because the Manics did it, they're adaptable young lads, if they make cheese, then they make it the best cheese around.

hmm, cheese...

Neither have I really. I just think it's sad they have to do this every time they release a record.

It's Not War Just The End Of Love

I really hope this is the lead single as reported. Because I've realised if this gets to number one then the Manics will be the only other band since the Beatles to have two number ones that began with the same letter?

In the Sunday Times' Culture supplement today there's an advert for the tour amongst the other tour adverts, and the Manics have the biggest advert. Ok, the Muse and Green Day (who crop up next to the Manics yet again) adverts are only for a couple of stadium shows, but perhaps an example of the LSAMC in action.

No, you are not wrong for liking Autumnsong. It is a great song! I go mental for it at gigs anyway!
