Based on that my standouts are Let's Go To War, Sex Power Love and Money, and Between the Clock and the Bed... Not sure about Divine Youth and that line about tweeting and facebooking in The View From Stow Hill embarrasses me on every possible level, Nicky why?

It seems money is dictating that I can't buy on Monday, so I'm going to have to wait. Shame to break the streak, first one I haven't bought on release day since Know Your Enemy. Could be worse I suppose. Going to resist the urge to Spotify.

The sampler is great… really does sound like it's all of a piece. Even the tracks I've heard seemed better in the context of the others like that.

I think The View From Stow Hill might be the only possible blot on the landscape as far as I'm concerned! But I'll give it a chance.

WELL THERE GOES THAT ONE. Bloody Manics.

From the sampler, I am most intrigued by Divine Youth and Misguided Missile. Those lines in TVFSH are painfully cringey, and likely to date badly. Nicky chanting MAYAKOVSKY!!! with such serious intent made me giggle. The thing that's standing out most overall to me is the basslines. Really strong and unusual. Nice work Nicky!

You were right. I didn't need that. Daft old man moaning about things he doesn't understand. "In my day kids'd pack up, move to Spain and fight fascism I tell thee. Now it's all digital"

Still love him though ;-)

Can't remember the last time a Manics album didn't have a cringe lyric from Nicky.

My first meaningful post........ Here goes.....with trepidation.... As I don't articulate very well

From listening to rewind and now futurology it has left me in an emotional place I wasn't expecting. I wish the manics would be bold and brave by dumping their greatest hits. Forget thb 20, motorcycle emptiness, YSTSFMH etc....... Save the greatest hits for festivals, Draw a line and using these 2 new albums as a base of songs for live gigs.

I couldn't think of anything worse now than THB gig. I'm 40 and the thought of trying to recapture, recreate or continuing reflection now feels embarrassing.

New stuff sounds appropriately aged in mood, sound, freedom and breath and I want to keep the cobwebs blown away.

I FUCKING LOVE THEM.
