I rather suspect this will be forgotten like Lifeblood or KYE. I am bitterly disappointed. I liked the songs I'd heard beforehand, but this is just poor. I found myself actually loathing it more as the record progressed. Then by the end that I realised I hate all the lyrics and most of the vocals. And then it made me reflect on other Manics albums, and then I realised that as I grow older I appreciate Nicky and Richie's lyrics less and less, to the point where I now think they are mostly terrible.

So yeah, I dislike this record so much that it's made me reflect on the Manics in a very negative way. It's most unfortunate.

I had this about Rewind the Film and now puts me off spending a tenner I can't really afford

It's a shame people don't like it when it's more inventive than they have been in years.

Well I guess there's no point in posting on a Manics fan forum anymore.

Why? I like to hear all diferent opinions, I remember joining when Lifeblood came out and I still think its the best thing since sliced bread but a lot hated it, remember 'another man's meat is another man's poison'

No but there's a difference between liking it, not liking it, and then going full-out antagonistic or being so baffled that the album's received generally favorable reviews from critics that you're grasping for straws trying to find 'proof' that Futurology is a bad album. Who cares? You like it or you don't. If some people loathe the band at this point, there's really no reason to be posting on a fan forum complaining about how much you hate them.

It's a big church! Like mortgages, the album can go up as well as down. You could be bored shitless of it in a few months after loving it or you could have grudging respect for it in a few weeks after hating it.
No reason for anyone else to leave.

People will do what they want. It's a public messageboard. Some people genuinely don't like it, and others just get a thrill/ego trip out of it. Or giving a 'reality' check. Nothing else better to do. It would be very rare to find a consensus that everyone likes the disc or any disc or really anything at all. If you like it and feel it was worth your $10, that's all that matters.

I think it's worth listening to for any Manics fan. It is indeed the most inventive they've been for a while. I just happen to have developed an intense dislike for their current invention.

This, the whole point of a public forum is to like and dislike and argue over it, no good having a load of old 'sheep' who like everything, would be like being on a One Direction site!
