Yep! Might change my genre settings on itunes for the Manics - prostitute rock instead of "Welsh rock, socialist-existentialist", which is a bit long, really.

The Manics are in the "Indie" category in my I-pod. So boooring. Prostitute rock is much better.

Don't think I've seen this one posted - Rock Sound are not impressed, but they wouldn't be, would they:

"The first half of a two-album series (the partner will be released next year), the Manics' eleventh record is a downbeat and sedate affair, with none of the bite of the late-period return-to-form 'Journal For Plague Lovers, let alone their vital '90s material. And sure, there are some pretty melodies on the soulful 'Show Me The Wonder' and 'Running Out Of Fantasy', but this is a largely gutless affair that neuters the thing that made the Manics great - spit, bile, glamour and intelligence. This feels like the dampest of squibs, from a band capable of true greatness.

5/10

For fans of: Richard Hawley, Super Furry Animals, disappointment."

It physically pained me to type that up.

It is a very stupid magazine. Almost as stupid as the NME, who missed the point so completely that they reviewed a statement the band never made and their clothing choices instead of the album. AND THEY COULDN'T EVEN REVIEW THOSE WELL.

Ahem. I may still be grinding my teeth every time I think of that review.

Just remembered I have another to contribute if it hasn't already been found, my nan cut it out for me from the magazine that comes with her Mail On Sunday, aw (but also ew):

"If, two decades ago, you'd told the young punk Manics that their 11th album would be a reflective acoustic set, late guitarist Richey Edwards might have carved a retort in his arm. But this is a dignified mid-life album that looks back while moving forward. Still wordy, they can also do 1960s spy themes, Beach Boys-style flugelhorn bits, Japanese future-pop, folky Welsh pride and more. A great, career-reviving sound. 4/5"

Kerrang isn't really a rock radio station..it plays shedloads of indie with the odd AC/DC track to say *oh yeah we're RAWK*

I know but just saying kerrang isn't what you think it is. I never hear the bands they cover in the magazine..at least during the day. I used to work with someone who was a massive classic rock fan that hated indie. He always wanted kerrang radio on for that odd AC/DC track or GNR or whoever
