Looking forward to this album, just from the little snippets in the background of the trailer and also because they're on a bit of a roll for me - after falling out of love with them for a while, I really liked Rewind and Futurology.

Just goes to show, you never really get over your first love...

Nope, you're thinking picture-disc vinyl - those sound terrible. Nothing different in regards to quality on vinyl when it comes to colors, be it solid, swirls or splatters than there is with regular black. It's all about the actual pressing, not the color vinyl used. At least not these days.

"The first recorded in the band’s new Door to the River studio"

Of all the songs to name your new studio after... why?

The Sleepflower Studio. The Revol Rooms. Any better song surely.

I think it sounds gorgeous, but as it's one of my favourite songs it's not surprising.

Sorry to state the obvious, but probably because it's beside a river?

Every copy I have of coloured vinyl does not hold up well compared to the Black counterpart (the Mondo version of The Fountain OST is my main offender). I’ve found clear vinyl to be okay. Yes I agree, picture vinyl is terrible for sound quality and I always steer clear.

I have a moderate listening set-up with a Project carbon, Ortofon Red cartridge and Tannoy monitors.

A new debate often arises on Discogs, with the majority nearly always favouring Black vinyl, for example: https://www.discogs.com/group/thread/600594

I understand how desirable the coloured vinyl is and whilst it has improved recently, I still don’t feel it compares to Black vinyl. Other factors are important too such as AAA pressing etc, but I don’t want to derail the thread here!

I personally think this is one of their best songs so I have no issue with the naming of the studio after this tune.

Looking forward to all the brilliant b-sides and 'non-album tracks' snubbed this time round...

Been a while since I've used a pre-order for anyone, never used one for Manics, not much need to these days.

Aye, I'm going for defiant and powerful too. Interesting approach this time, that they've announced the release date this far in advance. Don't know how far on they are with the album, I like the sound of the snippets so far, no idea how many tracks are on it, any of the titles or anything like that. But with a title like that, there's a lot you can draw from it if you feel like it... Even the fact that it's getting put on a red vinyl, you can draw stuff from given the historical connotations of red. Or maybe it's just a red vinyl..

Can we not clutter up this thread with made up setlists please....it is a pain for people looking for real news...i've split them off to a separate thread.

I am sorry to disappoint you, but the new album won’t be good. There is already a schema there - since Everything Must Go are the albums:
Shit - shit - good - shit - good - shit - shit - good - ...

And now comes ...shit - good.
We must hope, that it‘s not the last one :-/

Well I feel after all this time it's inevitable some people (And I'm talking outside FD) will always find it a disappointment.
I'll just have to hear it next year when released.
But I'm happy there's a new album coming and enjoying the dusted tinted fanboy depot visit over this!
A couple of weeks ago I felt that sort of down, but new Manics album gave me the push back so I've gone beyond judging what stuff is good or bad.
Much least have no argument in that department due to my own efforts!
