8/10/21 - Portsmouth Guildhall

Surprised there was no thread already - Anyone else going? Does anyone know what time they'll come on and who is supporting?

They've been coming on stage at 9.15 on other dates on the tour, but wouldn't want to promise you it'll definitely be the same at all of them just in case there are strange local reasons why they're different. Keep an eye on social media from the venue on the day which often give information.

Support for the tour comes from Low Hummer.

Thanks for the info. Will aim to get there about 8. I'll be leaving straight from work so hoping to grab a bite to eat first. If you see a guy in a Public Service Broadcasting "I Believe In Progress" T-Shirt, it's probably me.

Looks like the lads are on stage at around 8.45 this evening (as per the Guildhall Twitter feed):

Better leave a lot earlier than I was intending to.

They're still testing the equipment so have a feeling it'll be 9PM...

I don't think I'll fully appreciate that show on a personal level for many years to come. Many years were shed. I think in some ways seeing the band again after six years in the states felt more special than seeing them for the first time on the PPF tour.

Fuck me they were loud. I always forget how loud they are until after I see them.

First seated gig I’ve been to. No grumbles at all. Good form, a varied set. Got Afterending. Staff were good. Very happy.

Bloody hell, I needed that more than I thought.

Start to finish, it felt like a celebration.

Enjoyed Nick’s reminisces of playing Portsmouth in ‘91; with the ‘big fucking cowbell’. I actually had the bootleg of the Portsmouth Poly gig, during that set Nick said he had ‘laryngitis, from kissing too many sailor boys’. Shame he didn’t recall that tonight…

One thing I did ponder on tonight: why does Nick have so many spare plectrums on his mic stand & amp when he plays finger-style for 80% of the set these days?
