I can’t imagine masks being mandatory in the arena - how will they police that? At the gigs I went to at the O2 in August, staff were in masks but in the crowd it was optional - most didn’t wear them, but a few did. I’ll be interested to know what response you get from the arena!

It's an outside venue isn't it? So I'm not sure how much difference a mask will make.

Still no reply yet but emailed the accessibility helpline today. We got back from a remote shepherds hut break near Abergavenny last week and masks were still mandatory in all inside places in Wales so who knows. When I hear I will let you all know.

I'm planning on keeping mask on as long as possible but once gig has started it's going to get too hot. I've struggled on the tube some days this summer ...couldn't wait to take it off once out..
Hopefully the venue has adjusted the air con to circulate air better.

Rules are here: https://motorpointarenacardiff.co.uk...opening-update

Masks inside unless drinking. Proof of vaccine or test needed.

Cheers for that. Does anyone know if you have to show photo ID as well? I've emailed the venue to confirm but they're not open till Monday.

Thank you for that info, much appreciated. Wales is so much better at this than we are. Let’s hope the English don’t let us down with non compliance. When we were on holiday in Wales that’s what seemed to be happening.

Um. I'm sure there's a few non compliant souls in Wales too

Still a bit unsure about attending tbh.
Cheers
Been to a couple of medium gigs but no arena size ones yet, not been a mask requirement but been a few people who've chosen to wear em. Still not got our tickets for first night but presume there'll be some quick check for vaccine/test.

Been to a mini festival here in Manchester spread over half a dozen or so venues, was impressed that at the wristband exchange they had covid tests for anyone who hasn't been vaccinated or got proof of test. Fuck it, turn up, it'll be great.

If masks are mandatory for the entire duration of the gig, I am going to question whether it’s worth going. It’s a long way to travel when I’ve got two Manics gigs in England coming up where there’s no mask mandate. I can’t imagine watching a gig with a mask on will be a fun experience.

I would fret over it. Some people will wear a mask and follow the rules others won’t. There is no way they can inforce the rule in a big venue like this. Come along and enjoy the home coming!

I question the "unless drinking" rule. Does that mean sip your drink then slap mask back on then off again to drink? Or as I suspect they'll let you stand there nursing a pint maskless cos you're "drinking"?
