.
I think bass players are underrated, they have to be persistent whereas guitar players can be looser and mess about a bit, even getting away with a few errors. Matthew Bellamy makes them all the time and he still gets raved about in guitar mags.

Full on comedy gold! James around 0.30 looks like he's thinking "Aww shit, shit, they've got the levels wrong!". Sean thinks it's hilarious and at the line about "Postcards" James nervously looks to his right to make eye contact with Nicky.
I think this video should be played to all people who register with this site!
That... is fantastic!!!

The worst thing is that Richey's guitar sounds like shit (incredibly trebly). If he had a slightly better tone than that level mistake would almost be forgivable.

I think James has said that Richey was always plugged in but turned down low. There is that video where someone shouts at richey *are you plugged in?* from the crowd and he smiles and shakes his head

Thats not bad at all to be honest. His timing is bang on on the chord changes. I reckon if he hadnt dissappeard he probably would have ended up being a pretty competent rhythum player. Would probably never have been as good as James, but probably would have continued to improve.

As someone who has been learning guitar for nearly 2 years. It takes a hell of a lot effort to even play simply barre chords and power chords in time. Which seems to be what Richey is doing in most videos I've seen.

This is what Paul Simonon thought too, as I had heard somewhere. Don't remember now. But I heard playing bass is hard because you gotta make the rhythm or something like that. In the end it all depends on the individual's affinities, I guess...

Not all the bass players. Paul Simonon is well praised, as I mentioned. But yeah, you are right in a way. Seems to me we've got more famous guitar players than famous bassists. I wanna add one more to the good bassists list - the one from New Model Army. Now that's a bass.

If James wasn't a musical genius, Richey wouldn't have the reputation as "the one who couldn't play guitar" and nobody would complain about Nicky's playing either. The problem is they're always compared to James, while this guy is simply outstanding on a general level.

Thank you for posting that link. It's had me sitting here with a mile wide grin on my face. Sean's pissing himself laughing throughout the song. James' looks like he's ready to murder the soundguy. Nicky tries to make eye contact with Richey, but he's blissfully unaware! Fantastic!
