You could have said Red Rubber proved nobodies listening! That was my favourite of the b-sides from this era. Well that an Engage With Your Shadow.

Red Rubber's great, better than 92% of PFAYM but doesn't have the same 80's pop sensibilities of Broken Up Again which is Broken Up Again which is essentially RIF's "Comfort Comes".

Was walking the dog in the sunshine earlier today and flicking through my iPod, I came across Postcards and gave the album a listen again. I have always found it a summer album and I accept it is not a popular view, but it is an album I like.
Yes, there is a bit too much going on in most of the songs (gospel choirs, orchestras etc) and maybe it is a couple of songs too long (really not a fan of The Descent), but it is an album I find myself going back to, particularly in the summer months. Broken Up Again, Red Rubber and to a lesser extent Distractions, are some of my favourite B sides as well and I do like the cover of Time Ain’t Nothing. |
