Normally, I would have expected to hear of them appearing on the radio, in magazines etc talking about the forthcoming UK tour, the new album, summer festival appearances, 6 Nations banter, yadda yadda. For what is supposed to be an April/May release they are leaving it very late to start promoting the tour/album.
Maybe it points to there not being such an early release?

Possibly. As mentioned in The Random Mentions thread earlier though, the TV presenter Carrie Grant tweeted this earlier:

Are they in Monmouth because they are recording in that Rockfield Studio up there?

Although could this mean that the upcoming tour is a Past Present Future type tour, and the Futurology (or Futurology / Holy Bible Anniversary Tour? Wire has said that those two albums are “bedfellows”) is still to come? We can but dream.

I know it's my problem but I did get tickets for Brixton thinking that they would be promoting the new album.
Maybe they will play some new stuff - otherwise it should be promoted as still a RTF tour.
Hope it's not another attempt at RTF as much as I do like the album I'm more in the mood for something a bit rockier!

They did say they will be "preveiwing" Futurology, whatever that means (two or three tracks I'm guessing). But there are backward R's and they are rehearsing Holy Bible material. This ain't going to be no Rewind The film Tour.

The backwards R thing is irritating. First it appears THB then SATT and now it is being used for this new campaign. It's a little over-used now.

No, this will be just the same tour they've done in the past few years. Minimum of 3 new songs.

Sounds more like PPF Tour 2 which can only bring greatness, one of the best tours they've done

The silly part of me wishes for this!

The reasonable part of me who has had a good look at the post-2011-Manics believes this.

I would love it but I know it won't be. It will be a greatest hits set with 2-3 new songs thrown in.

I thought there was talk of them 'launching' the album in Germany (and they're not playing there until May), or did I imagine that? I was always under the impression the UK tour was preceding the album's release anyway, but I could be wrong.

yeah they did say that. Looks like the Futurology tour will start in europe and we'll just get whatever singles they're planning. It'll be a plugged-in RTF extension tour with some other stuff thrown in
