I agree that fan input is great, and to a certain extent (like the football analogy) if you pay your money, you deserve to voice an opinion. The only thing is, and I would always say this, I do agree that bands should do whatever they like. If it doesn't work, people vote with their feet.

I agree with Will too, that the Manics do not appear like a "band" in the traditional sense. In my band we thrash out a track via trial and error in the practice room because we like the feeling of playing and just seeing what the hell happens. In the Manics, I imagine James (or Nick) will make a demo of a song that is almost complete, and to be learned by the others rather than tinkered with.

Judging by previous they seem to have added one song (ish) per tour for the last few years, and I think that is fairly reasonable as a long term plan. For a band with as many great tracks as them, 25 songs shouldn't be out of the question.

I always seem to blurt out an involuntary "fuck's sake" whenever James says his nice, confident-sounding "this is called Ocean Spray" line at every gig.
