The album is out in several countries already apparently, so once that happened it is all over the place. I'm just waiting, it's only 24 hours now.

I love the chorus from Misguided Missile, and I'm in love with The View From Stow Hill, it would have been a great way to end the album in my opinion.

Sorry, had to drag this one back up from a couple of pages back... just because it's so bloody hilarious and kinda sums up parts of the discussion quite well.

Anyway, after having listened to the album nonstop for 2 days now, only interrupted by the quarter finals, I can say that I'm not sick of it yet and that I still love it. Truely, madly, deeply, or something.

May his holy monobrow forever reign over its five minutes and twenty eight seconds, his likeness eternalised on vintage magnetic studio tape - as expensive, as it is cumbersome to operate - resplendent with a divine repetition of the first verse, adorned in the napoleonic regalia of two guitars hammering away on the chords, one reclined in the left, the other in the right channel, together producing an almost unbearably "belter" effect, matched only in rock and rollness by the classic piano motiv after the first refrain, now also after the third and fourth refrain, really hammering home its classic status, its standing in the Yardbirds and The Kooks categories of kingly history and conquest!

(In truth - I like Blistered Mirrors. It's cool. Like a much better version of Flashbulb Eyes off Arcade Fire's last or like a shorter Just A Kid. And the refrain brings a small splash of emotion, with those sweet chord changes. Also, the mix is tremendous. Drums in only one channel works exceedingly well for them. On here as well as RTF, the track)

Not normally, but they just released two albums so close together. I assume you might be right, but it's also possible that was the main tour.

Anyone else think that "Blistered Mirrors" is like a downbeat cousin to The Beatles' "Drive My Car"?

It's not really a review to be fair. More like an incoherent post by an anhedonic forumite.

Apologies if this has been posted already but here's a link to Nicky's track by track run through with Q magazine. Always interesting to hear the band's perspective or extra bits of info etc especially when it contrasts with our own opinions!

That 'review' in the Herald *is* ridiculous, completely misses the point!
