at a push... AT A PUSH... I might accept the title track as a closer for the album. one to play over rolling credits... "one day we will return".

I share this opinion and I also love that they do. I was even a tad bit expecting it to be so, after 30YW, which sounds like Eraser + Manics.

Once i think i got over the initial shock of it not sounding anything like what they said (really, nothing like it bar EDGM and LGTW)... Its actually mostly a good record! Not as good as the critics are claiming, but good nethertheless. Don't think ill ever love it as much as my top MSP albums but its better than another PFAYM or SATT. Not a bad effort at all, still haven't forgiven them for SPLAM and the title track though. Those can fuck right off. Take em away and replace with two bonus tracks...im all in.

I was WRONG about this, you hear me Khizar/Richey? WRONG!
That's encouraging as I kind of thought the same as you based on my first listen last night. Had been listening to the brilliance that is KYE and JFPL, so was disappointed by the apparent combination of bombast and meh, but I also know that the most immediate albums end up being the most boring so am hoping a few more listens will draw me in.

Yay! Managed to pick up a copy from Asda. The standard version. It was at number 14 and the number one album according to Asda was Kasabian.
Sadly, there was too much of a queue at the checkout for me to buy a single bottle of something so I could buy it, check out and then return to the Entertainment section, take a swig and then spit it out in disgust going "Those fucking gobshites at number one?!!".
So I just waited at the back for a member of staff. And while I was waiting I noticed the CD case had one of the hinges snapped off and missing.
Well that'll teach me to go for the one right at the back of the display.
Bought a CD that seemed to be intact and came home.
I'd listen to it now but, Internet! Important stuff on the Internet first!

That would make a lot more sense.

I'm not sure where I'd put it in my list of the albums. Maybe just behind Journal and Lifeblood!

Anyone hating on the title track is so wrong. Not just a matter of opinion. I've waited so long to hear a proper kinda duet between james and Nicky and it's just wonderful.
Totally in love with the album

Title track is one of the highlights. It's a good upbeat opener.

Gotta say, I'm tapping my feet and humming along to "Futurology" (the song) today so that's becoming a bit of an earworm. Is the word 'Futurology' used in it at all though?

Yeah, it's easily the best Nicky vocal yet. The most pleasing on the ear.

There have been a couple of "Oh is that it?" after the songs played. But once used to how brief the songs are... it's quite good this!
Although the 80's have been mentioned, I think a lot of the later tracks owe a lot to the 90's electronic stuff. Not slow enough for Trip Hop, but close.
Second listen in and it's getting better. Can't say where I'd rank it just yet, but glad I've heard it!
