And pride, almost cockiness, like "look what I've done". It's a really unnerving photo - not all the blood but that expression - and I love it too.

Nice job on the painting sweetjayne

I think it's a very well painted piece of art - really, really good.

That said, I don't think many of us have a spare £300 lying around.

Yes, you can definitely say he looks very proud from what he did. he was very cynical with himself, how he treated himself, even in late 1994, Nicky used to underline this all the time. I think this picture perfectly shows Richey's nature, I mean he didn't hurt anybody else but he did it for himself, he also said in this bizarre way how much he loved his friends, his job and he said he's takes everything very serious, and all cultural influences on him brought him on this step

or am I over-interpreting everything?

I'm just going to echo what has already been said, that you're extremely talanted and that it's absolutely great but I don't have the money.

Yeah, I'm helpful.

Also, pitching my opinion, I adore that photo, one of my favourite photos I've ever seen. I've gone into it far too many time why so I'll leave it at that.

Agreed. It's one of my favorites.

The thing is, looking back, I no longer think the Manics were 'for real' at that particular stage of their career. Sean definitely wasn't for real. I bet he greeted the rest of them every morning with things like 'you fucking bunch of poofs, I'm not wearing that', and James was all like 'can I do a ballad today - can I, can I, can I?'.

Why? They've been the band he describes for about 15 years now, why think they really meant it for those few years back in the early 90s when they were trying to get noticed?

I said that because he never seems to have anything nice to say about the band, and it amuses me to see negative post after negative post about the Manics with that sig line attached.

Fair enough. I have lots of negative things to say about them too, doesn't mean I don't enjoy their music.

Although about half the time I don't.

Hmmm, I'd love to sell my artwork for £300 (or at all).

Yeah, I feel the same way as Stu about the Manics. Doesn't mean I'm not a fan, I just don't believe in praising everything they've ever done especially when some of the music they produce or some the things they say (namely Wire) don't appeal to me.

However, I do see where you're coming from, Elizabeth. It can be quite bewildering when you constantly read negative comments about the band from the same people. It kind of makes you wonder why they even contribute to Manics discussion when they seemingly don't really care for them at all.
